Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Quantam Forge (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the mobile application Luminous AI (the “App”) — an on-device background remover for iPhone, iPad, and Android, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, see Contact below or visit our Support page.
2. Scope
This policy applies to the Luminous AI mobile apps for Android and iOS (iPhone and iPad), including free and paid (Luminous Pro / subscription) features, on-device cutouts, optional cloud scene downloads, in-app advertising, analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and push notifications where enabled.
It does not cover third-party websites, stores, or services that we do not control (for example Google Play, the App Store, or ad networks), which have their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect
We design Luminous AI so core photo editing happens on your device. Depending on how you use the App and which platform permissions you grant, we (and our service providers) may process the categories below.
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Photos you choose | Images from camera or Photos / gallery that you import | On-device cutout, refine, replace background, enhance, upscale, batch, export, share, save |
| Local project files | Cutout PNGs, composites, and cached intermediates on device | Reopen, refine, re-export, or continue later |
| App preferences | Theme, language, onboarding state, daily free-removal counters, local settings | Remember your choices and enforce free-tier limits |
| Scene catalog (optional) | Public scene list and JPEG backgrounds you tap to download | Replace-background packs. Catalog fetch does not upload your photos |
| Purchase status | Subscription / entitlement signals from Apple or Google | Unlock Luminous Pro and restore purchases |
| Device & usage | App version, OS, device model, language, session events, feature usage | Analytics, product improvement, remote feature flags |
| Diagnostics | Crash logs, non-fatal errors, performance signals | Stability and bug fixing (Firebase Crashlytics) |
| Advertising IDs & consent | Google Advertising ID / Apple advertising identifier; UMP consent status; ATT choice on iOS | Serve and measure ads via Google AdMob (unless you are ad-free / Pro) |
| Push token | Firebase Cloud Messaging token; topic subscription (e.g. “all”) | Deliver optional notifications about the App |
4. Photos & on-device AI
When you import a photo, Luminous AI processes it locally to remove the background, refine the matte, replace the scene, enhance, or upscale (where those tools are enabled). Batch cutouts apply the same local pipeline to each photo you select. Edited results may be saved to your device library (with your permission) or shared through the system share sheet.
Photos remain under your control on your device unless you choose to share them with another app or service. If you share an image, that destination’s privacy policy applies.
How the cutout runs
- iOS / iPadOS 17+ — Apple Vision Framework
(
VNGenerateForegroundInstanceMaskRequest) on a real device. The system segmentation API runs on-device. Older iOS versions cannot run this cutout API. - Android — Google ML Kit Subject Segmentation. Inference stays on the device. The segmentation model is delivered by Google Play services and is not bundled in the app binary.
Android model download
On Android, the App may download the ML Kit subject-segmentation module (often on first launch, or before the first cutout) so processing can run offline afterward. That download is a model file for local inference — not an upload of your photo library to Quantam Forge or to a cutout API.
Temporary cutout PNGs may be written to the app cache and cleared with app data or uninstall. Enhance and 2× upscale also run locally.
5. Optional scene catalog
Replace-background includes bundled studio scenes that ship in the app (available offline) plus an optional MORE catalog of extra scenes. When that catalog is enabled, the App may fetch a public list of scenes and download a JPEG you tap, then cache it on device for compositing.
That network call downloads our scene files. It does not upload the photo you are editing. No Luminous account is created. If the catalog is off or unreachable, bundled and already-cached scenes still work.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free experience may show ads powered by Google AdMob: banner, native, interstitial, rewarded, and app-open. Ads may appear on splash, language, how-to-use, home, gallery, assets, and after export or share. Ads are not shown on the editor canvas while you refine a cutout.
Ads may use device identifiers and contextual or interest-based signals according to Google’s policies and your choices:
- EEA / UK and similar regions: Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) may show a consent form before personalized ads. If consent is not obtained, the App skips initializing the ads SDK.
- iOS App Tracking Transparency: the tracking prompt is optional. Declining still lets you use the App; ads may be less personalized.
- Settings → Privacy options: where required, you can reopen the consent / ad-personalization form.
- Android: you can also limit ad personalization in Google account / device ad settings.
- Rewarded ads may temporarily unlock HD export, an extra removal, or an ad-free window.
- Luminous Pro removes ads for the active subscription. A rewarded ad-free window does the same until it expires.
- Ads can be turned off per platform by us (Android / iOS kill-switch) without an app update.
More from Google: Google Privacy Policy and AdMob & user data.
7. Analytics, crash reporting & remote config
We use Google Firebase services to operate and improve the App:
- Firebase Analytics — aggregated usage events (opens, feature use, funnels).
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reports to fix bugs.
- Firebase Remote Config — feature flags and tunables (for example daily free removals, Android / iOS ads switches, ad placement, paywall copy, legal URLs, scene-catalog switch).
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push delivery when notifications are enabled.
Firebase is provided by Google. See the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation for how Google processes this data.
8. Purchases & subscriptions
Optional paid plans are processed by Apple App Store and/or
Google Play Billing. Current store plans include monthly
(monthly_sub) and yearly (yearly_sub, with a 3-day free trial
where offered). Additional periods may appear via remote configuration. We receive
entitlement information needed to unlock Pro features and restore purchases. We do not
receive your full payment card number.
Billing, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or Google Play subscriptions.
9. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we may send messages about product updates, tips, or offers via Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can disable notifications at any time in your device system settings. Topic-based messaging (for example a general “all” topic) may be used for broadcast updates.
10. Device permissions
Depending on your OS and the feature you use, the App may request:
- Photos / media — select photos to remove backgrounds; save edited images to your library.
- Camera — capture photos to remove backgrounds.
- Notifications — optional push messages (Android POST_NOTIFICATIONS; iOS notification permission).
- Tracking (iOS ATT) — “Used to show relevant ads. You can decline and still use the app.”
You can deny or revoke permissions in system settings. Some features will not work without the related permission. Declining ATT does not block cutouts, export, or Pro.
12. Retention & security
Photos and edits you keep in the App or library remain on your device until you delete them. Local preferences, scene caches, and cutout cache files stay until you clear app data or uninstall.
Analytics, crash, ad, and messaging data are retained by the respective providers according to their retention schedules and our configuration. We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to a mobile app that relies on reputable third-party SDKs; no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
13. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Opt out of personalized advertising via the in-app Privacy options form (where shown), iOS ATT, or OS / Google ad settings
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based (e.g. notifications, UMP)
To exercise these rights with Quantam Forge, email us at the address in Contact. For data held only by Google or Apple (ads, store billing), you may also need to use their privacy tools.
California / similar laws: We do not sell personal information as “sell” is commonly defined. You may still request to know, delete, or correct personal information we control by contacting us.
14. Children’s privacy
Luminous AI is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App or via notification where appropriate.
